HGUC 1/144 Hamma Hamma
Release: March 2027
Price: 4,400 yen
Neo Zeon’s Hamma Hamma is finally joining the HG lineup, giving one of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ’s more unusual mobile suits a brand-new 1/144 scale GunPla release.
Developed during Neo Zeon’s campaign to conquer the Earth Sphere, the AMX-103 Hamma Hamma was an experimental mobile suit built around the Quasi-Psycommu system. It was designed as a prototype for high-ranking officers and served as part of Neo Zeon’s efforts to explore technology that could eventually bring Psycommu-style capabilities to more mobile suits.
Its biggest feature is impossible to miss. The Hamma Hamma is equipped with detachable, wire-guided claw hands, each armed with a three-barrel beam gun. The wired arms can extend far from the main body, allowing the mobile suit to attack targets across a wide area.
The HG kit recreates that unique setup with arm extension parts and four lead wires. The arm ejection mechanism is reproduced through the lead wires, while an included arm extension base helps support the extended configuration for display.
The arms themselves feature movable claws, while the mono-eye is also movable. Pull-out mechanisms in the arms and hip joints further improve articulation, giving the Hamma Hamma more flexibility for posing despite its bulky and unusual design.
The kit also includes the Hamma Hamma’s shield, which carries its own built-in power generator and additional weaponry. A beam saber can be fitted onto the shield, while its movable rail gimmick recreates the deployment of the mobile suit’s naval mines.
The accessory lineup includes a beam saber, shield, arm extension parts, an arm extension base, four lead wires, and stickers.
For a mobile suit that has spent years waiting for a modern 1/144 scale release, the Hamma Hamma is finally getting its turn in the HG series. With movable claws, a movable mono-eye, pull-out articulation, detachable wired arms, and a shield that can deploy naval mines, this is shaping up to be a seriously fun kit to pose and display.
Sometimes the weirdest mobile suits are the ones that make the best GunPla, and the Hamma Hamma has certainly waited long enough to prove it.
