After nearly nine years in Odaiba, the life-size RX-0 Unicorn Gundam has officially reached its final days at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
The Life-Size Unicorn Gundam Statue Final Ceremony was held on Saturday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m. JST, with the event also livestreamed on the official Gundam Channel for fans around the world.
The ceremony featured a special live performance by Hiroyuki Sawano and SennaRin, with voice actor Genki Okawa serving as the MC. Sawano has worked extensively on the Gundam franchise, including Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative and the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway films. SennaRin has also contributed music to the franchise, including the insert songs “ENDROLL” and “CIRCE” for Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe.
The ceremony also featured the special presentation “UNICORN GUNDAM Statue ― BEYOND POSSIBILITY ―”, which has been running at 8:00 p.m. each night since August 22 as part of the statue’s final program. The presentation combines the Unicorn Gundam with special WALL-G footage projected across DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
The farewell ceremony then turned toward the fans who supported the statue throughout its long run in Odaiba.
“Thank you very much to everyone who gathered here, as well as everyone who watched over the event through the livestream.”
The message continued with a reflection on the statue’s nine years at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.
“Thanks to all of your support, the life-size Unicorn Gundam statue was able to stand here for nine long years.”
It also recognized the memories created around the statue and the people fans met during their visits.
“We hope that the time you spent here, the memories you made with the people you met, and the Unicorn Gundam itself will continue to live on in your hearts.”
The message then looked ahead to the future.
“As long as people continue to hold onto their hopes and dreams, those feelings will carry forward into the future.”
Fans were encouraged to believe that another Gundam could be waiting in the future.
“The future of humanity is something we create with our own hands.”
Haro then delivered the final words:
“Thank you, everyone. Thank you. Until we meet again.”
The life-size Unicorn Gundam was unveiled at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in September 2017, replacing the previous life-size RX-78-2 Gundam statue. Standing 19.7 meters tall, the RX-0 has remained one of Odaiba’s most recognizable Gundam attractions throughout its nearly nine-year run.
The statue’s exhibition officially concludes on August 31, 2026.
