The factory will also be holding a pre-opening event specifically for special viewing in July and August 2020, that will feature an exhibit of the plans and processes on how they made the dream possible! You can also experience the venue and atmosphere by climbing the special viewing deck called "Gundam-Dock Tower". Tickets will be released from around April 2020.
A separate entrance fee will be charged if you want to see the moving Gundam up-close and with limited number of people watching with you. The exhibit for the walking Gundam will be presented on a hangar-like structure, with additional supports around it to avoid any possible accidents through malfunctions.
The whole structure of the RX-78-2 Gundam has been remodeled to accommodate its weight while moving on its feet. The materials for the project were also revised from the previous 1/1 scale Gundam statue, also to avoid too much pressure on its leg mechanism.
The moving Gundam is a collaborative project of Japanese researchers and engineers to make a life-sized, 18-meter Gundam walk in real life! This project has finally come to a success over the past few years since the project was first announced in 2014 during the "GUNDAM GLOBAL CHALLENGE"Â .Â
Here's a bonus. Looking back at this video from 2015 via Mecha Gaikotsu's Youtube channel.
The venue will not only present the moving Gundam, but will also offer variety of Gundam related shops including The Gundam Base, and Gundam Cafe! They will also include exhibit rooms were you can spend some of your time appreciating the world of Gundam provided with interactive activities.
Is this the same Gundam design we see in 40th gunpla banner. If yes then I'll be waiting for it
ReplyDeleteNo; I believe it's actually the parts of the RX-78-2 Gundam statue that used to stand in front of Diver City Tokyo before it was eventually replaced by The Life-Sized Unicorn Gundam Statue that now stands there, so it'll match the MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 3.0 or perhaps more accurately the Mega Size Model of the thing, so more along the lines of the way Katoki draws this thing.
Delete@TouyaShiro, no, they aren't using old part from RX-78 statue. They make new design exactly like that 3d model. That's why I thought its the same as gunpla showed in 40th anniversary banner, because the cockpit hatch looks similar also the lower arm looks similar too, but the torso is different. Bandai, how many RX-78-2 will you make?
DeleteWell, it's received an updated design for sure, but it seems to still be primarily centred around that design as you'd see on the later Master Grade versions of the RX-78-2; you can tell it's not the G40/Industrial Design Ver. by Ken Okuyama Design because it doesn't have red eye sensors, nor does it have the camera in the head that moves all the way to the back... amongst many other details which separates that version from the Gundam Global Challenge version. The way the parts are coloured also seem to suggest Hajime Katoki, too.
DeleteI'm really excited to see this on live tv/stream!
ReplyDeleteJust waiting for chinese propaganda news to say this is the JSDF's secret weapon.
ReplyDeleteBtw, thanks for the new pandemic China.
it really is the JSDF's secret weapon.
DeleteBandai is just a madlad.
ReplyDeleteI mean, everybody gangsta till the support got weakened/can't handle the weight.
are they gonna make it walk across with a guided rai; mechanism underneath its feet? seems like its gonna just slide across a platform with its legs cycling to simulate walking.
ReplyDeletetis not real "walking" but its something
Yes, I think there will some platform to support it walking. Because it's just too heavy to bipedal robot this size to walk with its own legs. The gravity just not so forgiven.
DeleteI hope it's just rails, too. There's a reason why bipedal humans are only about 5-6 foot tall.
Deleteah you mean like automatons they have already build to move like that over 100 years ago?
Deletewow, yes that is truly progress and innovation.. rails.. wow...
Start of moon colonization.. Haha
ReplyDeleteSo this is what the P-Bandai project has been funding all these time.
ReplyDeleteI think its much better if they design a bit in that frame a lite metall will do
ReplyDeleteJapan is more closer to their secret weapon for WW3
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait to see this in person. I saw both statues and going back this year but wasn’t expecting this. Gonna have to add it to plans lol
ReplyDeleteanyone know how to get tickets?
ReplyDeleteWorld War 3 is coming
ReplyDeleteI can't wait till it's unveiled! At first I thought that maybe they would let people sit inside of the cockpit but I guess not.
ReplyDeleteEveryone laughing at Trump's Space Force needs to look up what EFSF Stands for! xD
ReplyDeleteI think Trump is secretly funding the Gundams! :O
