The RX-78F00 Moving Gundam, which amazed fans during its display at Gundam Factory Yokohama from December 19, 2020, to March 31, 2024, is being reimagined for a new chapter. After its dismantling, parts of the iconic statue were exhibited across Japan, keeping its legacy alive. Now, Bandai Namco Holdings has announced the arrival of a new life-sized Gundam at the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" during the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Kansai.
The new RX-78F00/E Gundam will be the first life-sized Gundam exhibited in the Kansai area, repurposing materials from its Yokohama predecessor. Redesigned with updated left shoulder, skirt armor, and leg sections featuring panel-like details, the statue is going to be exhibited in a striking pose—kneeling with one knee raised and its right hand reaching skyward, symbolizing humanity's aspirations for the future and the universe. Unlike the original, this version will not feature moving parts but will instead emphasize its bold, futuristic design.
On October 23, 2024, the new statue was completed, and a Shinto blessing ceremony was held to mark the installation of its head and the final piece of the statue. This traditional ritual signifies respect and protection, honoring the cultural importance of the project.
Towering at 16.72 meters tall and weighing 49.1 tons, the RX-78F00/E Gundam will be opened to public from April 13 to October 13, 2025, at the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION."
The pavilion, designed to resemble a futuristic spaceport, will also feature a 1/100-scale diorama, promotional visuals, and immersive exhibits to bring the Gundam universe to life. As the pavilion prepares to open in 2025, Gundam fans around the world eagerly anticipate this new addition to the franchise’s ever growing popularity.
