20 new characters of Cucuruz Doan's Island Revealed!

A new image from the official Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island website revealed the 20 children that Doan is protecting on his island. 

During one of Doan's missions, he accidentally misfired his gun, resulting in the death of several civilians. He was then ordered to kill the children of the dead civilians, but he couldn't do it, but instead, he deserted his team and took the children with him to an island, and swore to protect them.

During an interview, Director Yasuhiko commented about how he felt and how he thinks about his new project. Here are some of his words.

I didn't talk about making a movie, but I asked for it. The 15th episode of the original Gundam TV series was surprisingly attractive, and I think that it has some rich backstory - it was unfortunate that it became underrated. I also happened to remember that I've always been fascinated by its story. So, when the former president of Sunrise and the current president happened to be in the same place, I asked them to agree with me if I made a direct proposal for visualization.

He also added that he was the one who pushed to reveal not just a few but twenty younger characters, knowing that it maybe annoying for the team to create - but then, "poof", twenty! Then he laughed.
