The kit will be released first at the Gundam Base Tokyo/ Fukuoka on September 4, 2020 for 770 Yen (10% tax included) - then will debut on its official street date release in December 2020.
The kit contains 74 pieces that is also provided with easy-build system. Bandai Spirits has molded the parts in the runners in more convenient way!

Wow!! For about $8 US, this entry grade Rx-78 looks very good as well as the movement. The joint movement is on par with the current RG and MG.
ReplyDeleteNot really. The arm looks like it can only bend about 110 degrees or so. The articulation is more limited than the modern HGs. But the color separation is really impressive for the low part count.
DeleteANOTHER 1/144 RX-78? Now its just to the point of excessive for a single year...
ReplyDeleteIt's the original and the most iconic Gundam in existence. They will always start every new grade with RX-78-2
DeleteExcept HGUC
DeleteNot MGEX
DeleteOr Re100
DeleteBandai, you can separate the crotch-V for this but not the HG Origin? This one has hip ball joints, so why is it getting a mixed amount of love?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they're the rotating (at least partially) type of ball joint though, so for a 770 yen Entry/First Grade kit, with all the other features and pros it has, I think it's understandable. This thing looks absolutely fantastic for what it is, IMO.
Deletewoah this guy got full detail without any stickers needed even for the tiny crotch v marking, damn this is revolutionary
ReplyDeleteDefinitely buying this for my daughter. She loves her 30MM kits. Time to get her an actual Gundam.
ReplyDeletewell, this really uses a combination of pop-out parts, 30MM simplicity, and 2020 joints.
ReplyDeletenot bad, bandai, not bad at all.
This is kinda epic on so many levels. Love the part separations and articulation really rivals HGUC on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteno it really doesn't. Torso maybe but that's it
Deleteno it doesn't, the torso maybe but everything else is either standard or sub-standard
DeleteThis line concerns me considering the last Entry Grade was short-lived and very hard to get in stores.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, it allows so many more people to enjoy Gunpla, especially younger children or people with hand problems. It looks nice and sharp as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a revival standard GM or a revival Guntank sometimes? I don't need an army of Rx782!
ReplyDeleteSame here, canonically Gundams were supposed to be minority compared to the mass-produced Mobile Suits.
DeleteKinda interesting to see them applying the general concepts of the recent grunt unit kits (Leo, Maganac, Windam) to the RX-78.
ReplyDelete"entry grade" but the color separation is better than high-grade with articulation that is about the same. There will be bias with this two grades.
ReplyDelete40 years of Gunpla engineering paying off!
DeleteI'd say that this is a major improvement for beginning level grades.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Revive was a good entry level kit, but this is impressive.
ReplyDeleteThough I've got the revive, and waiting for my order of the Origin ver. to arrive, I might pick this one up for Gundam x 30mm custom I've been thinking about for a while.
I hope they make zaku II after granddaddy
ReplyDeleteNot interested. While it's a huge improvement from previous EG, you can see that the articulation is limited. The arms and legs seem don't use double jointed elbow, but C-clip joints. It indeed inherits some mechanical joints as HG Beyond Global but the torso still have ball joint articulation similar with HG Revive which is vulnerable of getting loose.
ReplyDeleteThey're the same joints as the other kits that use the Fine Build System, so they've still got a pretty good range of movement
DeleteThis is like "behold my ultimate form" ... oops there is another of my ultimate form. I havent yet got any of these rx 72 gundam.
ReplyDeleteC-clips on the shoulders makes me concerned about their longevity. C-clips are notorious for stressing up easily and are unfixable when you break it. I hope the C-clip is robust enough that it wouldn't stressed up easily, but I'm not sure. I don't want my Grand daddy Gundam became a Last Shooting version after some play ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ReplyDeleteAs much as Bandai tries to design the gates with minimum contact from parts, I would still use a cutter so it would not take a chunk of plastic off parts while you snap them off from trees. Bandai did this to the MG 91 Ver 2.0, what a pain to remove parts from trees. You do not want to damage parts yet the gate attachment to parts leave little space for cutting.
ReplyDeleteWhen the "cheap alternative" has better colour separation & articulation than a modern HG...
ReplyDeleteEven Master Grades have the pelvis chevron be a sticker.
The only things on this EG that need paint are the rifle scope and some of the shield interior.
I may already have three 1/144 RX-78s (G-Armor, Revive & Real Grade) but i'm probably gonna get this too along with the OG HGUC Gundam that i was gonna get anyway.
yeah this is a skip, the only reason to buy this is for the cheap price and even then the Revive exists. in fact, the RX-78s we've gotten are all so much better than this. The Revive for its cheapness and simplicity, The Origin for its detail and accessories, and the Beyond Global (my personal favorite) for its articulation and unique look (same for the G40). "But muh color separation" sorry you dont own Gundam markers or are incapable of putting on stickers.
ReplyDeleteTbf, this is entry grade, aimed for kids. You can argue "just buy hguc revive already," but kids not intended to handle sharp tools like nipper and cutter without parent supervisor. With this entry grade, kids can build it without using tools, and it safer for introduce them to model kits that way. Colour separation, and articulation are nice for kids, but not for us that experienced more articulated gunpla and can invest time for detailing.
DeleteWhen they say street release on december 2020, does it mean it gets released on the first week?
