These Two Gundam 00 Mobile Suits Would Be Perfect for MGSD

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2027, and there are plenty of ways BANDAI HOBBY could celebrate the milestone. But for GunPla fans, one idea immediately comes to mind: bringing Gundam Exia and 00 Gundam into the MGSD lineup.

The MGSD series has already shown how impressive familiar Gundam designs can look when reimagined with a completely different approach. The combination of intricate internal details, sharp proportions, dramatic articulation, and the signature SD proportions gives each release plenty of character.

Gundam Exia feels like a perfect candidate for the line. Its compact frame, GN Drive, numerous GN Condensers, and collection of GN Blades could give the MGSD treatment plenty of details to work with. The design also has a strong silhouette that could translate extremely well into the MGSD style.

Then there is 00 Gundam.

With its twin GN Drives and distinctive shoulder-mounted equipment, 00 Gundam could be an especially impressive MGSD release. The Twin Drive System would also give BANDAI HOBBY plenty of opportunities to showcase the detailed engineering that has become a major part of the MGSD lineup.

Both mobile suits have already received several GunPla versions over the years, but the MGSD line could offer something completely different. Instead of simply updating an existing kit, it could reinterpret these designs with the unique proportions and mechanical detail that make MGSD releases stand out.

The timing would also make sense. Gundam 00 reaching 20 years in 2027 would be a perfect excuse to revisit the series through GunPla, and an MGSD release would be a great way to make the anniversary feel special.

There are plenty of Gundam 00 mobile suits that fans would love to see in modern GunPla, but if I could pick just two for the MGSD lineup, Gundam Exia and 00 Gundam would be at the top of my list.

Now the question is, which one should come first?
