P-Bandai: HGUC 1/144 RX-78-6 Gundam Unit 6 "Gundam Mudrock" [REISSUE]
Release Date: December 2025
Price: 2,420 yen

INITIAL RELEASE
Release Date: November 2019
Price: 2,200 Yen

From Zeonic Front: Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, the 6th Gundam, nicknamed “Mudrock”, has finally enters the HG lineup! Known as the powerful unit that stood against the Fenrir Squad of the Dark Night, this heavily armed prototype Gundam has been recreated with a brand-new design that highlights its unique silhouette and artillery-focused form.

The RX-78-6’s distinctive armor, designed for heavy artillery fire, is sculpted with precision. Its striking dark blue and yellow color scheme is reproduced through smart part separation, while the head faithfully captures the unit’s unique masked appearance from its game debut.

ACCESSORIES
  • 300mm Cannon
  • Variable Leg Thrusters
  • Dedicated Beam Rifle
  • Beam Sabers & Shield
With a clever reassembly system, you can build both the finished combat-ready Mudrock and the unfinished prototype version seen during the Jaburo defense. Swappable shoulder armor and leg side parts make this dual display possible in a single kit.

Built on the latest HG format, the Mudrock offers flexible posing with forearm roll rotation, double-jointed arms, and expanded mobility across the frame—perfect for recreating both long-range artillery stances and high-impact melee poses.

Developed under Project V using combat data from the RX-78-2 Gundam, the RX-78-6 was designed to overcome the original’s shortcomings in sustained firepower. With its prototype CAP beam rifle, grenade launchers, twin 300mm cannons, and reinforced armor, Mudrock delivered overwhelming firepower at the cost of added weight. Upgrades like a high-output reactor, enlarged backpack, and hover-capable leg thrusters ensured it stayed mobile despite the heavy payload.

Though its combat results were limited compared to other RX-78 units, the Mudrock’s innovations directly influenced later Guncannon-type mobile suits, cementing its importance as one of the most distinctive Gundam prototypes.

  1. Why is this a P-Bandai? Does Bandai just not have confidence to make a major Mobile Suit into a normal release anymore???

    1. I don't think Mudrock categorized as major MS.Sure it got well enough publicity, but Mudrock never get official kit treatment before, unlike G04-G05 (MG) and Blue Destiny (HGUC-revive). I think its status as antagonist suit affect this too.

  2. Wait, aren't his eyes meant to be red?
They're red in Battle Operation 2...

    1. That's because this Gundam has been portrayed with three different eye colours. The original is yellow then it somehow changed to red and green.

    2. Honestly seems to depend on who's depicting it. Most depictions of the Mudrock has green eyes like in Battle Operation 1, though some like the GFF figure and Battle Operation 2 have eyes.

  3. I love you Bandai, but... I'm really not happy this is a P-Bandai release. Premium Bandai where I live means two things. Firstly, the product is not available in my country. And secondly, I'm forced to get it from places that sell it for more than a Master Grade will cost in most cases. Seriously, most HG's are about ¥1800. A P-Bandai HG costs around ¥4000 where I live. Mudrock is from the Legacy and MSV-R mangas so it's not as well-known as other MS from anime series (like the RX-78-2) but I'm sure a lot of people will like this. It's a Gundam after all. Why is this Premium?

    1. At the time of writing this, the kit has almost sold out (or sold out) for November. This is within hours of the listing going live. That's why it's P-Bandai. If every kit they can manufacture between now and November is already spoken for, then there isn't a lot of incentive to release it differently.

I know it sucks. But there's definitely a reason.

You already answered the question. Actually Mudrock first appearance are ps2 Zeonic Front.

    3. >Instantly sold out
Nah man this kit isn't popular enough to warrant a mass release.

  5. Man first Heavyarms and now this. Meanwhile recolours and reused suits get normal release. Why is Bandai so inconsistent with P-Bandai decisions? It doesn't make sense to be premium. like why is Pale Rider a well known and liked design for example a limited suit? I don't understand

    1. Imo for Pale Rider, there's HGUC special finish Pale Rider bundled with Side Story Missing Link PS3 game. Can you imagine people reaction who buy the bundle if Pale Rider ground and space conf. are released as retail?

Pale Rider and Mudrock itself still not well-known enough to release as retail, because they're MSV from game.

    2. Pale Rider probably remains limited because it was like that when Missing Link first released - it was originally a first-print bonus for the game, after all, and those particular kits are even rarer than the Premium Bandai kits we currently get of it because it's the only one with metallic coating and they've never reprinted it with that coating.

The way I tend to think about it is that most Premium Bandai Gunpla fall into one of three categories - obscure/niche stuff, stuff that wouldn't justify making a full mass-production mold, and stuff that is normally rather difficult to create/produce molds of. I'd suspect that the first two categories are the reason why this one is a Premium Bandai of the "7 Gundams" from M-MSV.

  6. that forearm twisting, maybe experimenting for a HGUC alex revive?

    1. I hope so. Mudrock's incomplete shoulder and front skirt already resembled Alex too.

    2. Well the old B-Club Mudrock kit used the Master Grade Alex 1.0 and the Fix Figuration is IIRC a parts swap using the NT-1 as base.

    1. Put the Tristan's head on it, it was the only good part of that kit. Actually, I think I'm going to do that now.

      Delete
    2. The HGUC Tristan was based off the HGUC Alex though because in lore, the Tristan WAS the Gundam Alex, which is kind of a copout. The Mudrock is a completely new design though, and the HGUC images already give it new articulation like on the forearms and shoulders that the old HGUC Alex didn't have.

  8. Another new mold being p bandai. It doesn't sit well with me at all.

  9. Mudrock seems to be using new articulation technology. Maybe Bandai is testing out the waters to make a GEP HGUC Gundam Alex. Maybe? Or new joints in general to improve future HG kit releases. I mean look at red Sinanju and the Stein: Huge improvement in articulation for anyone who's built the original kit and then the Stein. So if Bandai are making premium kits with new tech that will benefit standard releases this justifies some obscure designs coming out as P-Bandai. I could be wrong though.

  10. Now i hope they release unit 4 and 5 or even unit 7 without full armor
