Thirty years after it first changed the Gundam landscape around the world, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is officially preparing for a brand-new visual project.
During the recent Gundam Conference SPRING 2026, fans were surprised with the announcement that Gundam Wing will be receiving a completely new visual project as part of the larger Gundam 50th anniversary celebrations. The confirmation immediately sparked excitement among longtime fans who have continued to support the legendary series for more than three decades.
At the moment, details surrounding the project remain a mystery. Bandai Namco has not yet confirmed whether the new project will take the form of an anime, film, special animation, promotional work, or another type of media experience. Still, the announcement alone was enough to send excitement across the Gundam community, especially for fans who grew up with the Gundam Wing title itself.
The timing of the announcement feels especially meaningful as the franchise itself celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. To commemorate the milestone, a special promotional video was screened during San Diego Comic-Con International, reminding fans around the world just how influential Gundam Wing remains decades later.

The momentum surrounding Gundam Wing continued to grow beyond the anniversary celebrations with the release of a brand-new manga project last August. Titled Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 0.5 Point Half Preventer-7, the series reunites original Gundam Wing writer Katsuyuki Sumisawa with artist Sakura Asagi for a new story set within the After Colony timeline. The manga gives fans a closer look at what happened after Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, while continuing to expand the larger world and history surrounding Gundam Wing.
At the same time, Endless Waltz also made its return to theaters across the United States in beautiful 4K resolution, with screenings beginning last fall and allowing fans to relive one of Gundam’s most iconic stories on the big screen once again.
For many international fans, Gundam Wing was more than just another Gundam series. It became a gateway into the franchise itself. From its iconic mobile suit designs to its emotional characters and political storytelling, the series helped introduce an entire generation to Gundam during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
With Gundam approaching its most anticipated 50th anniversary in 2029, Bandai Namco Filmworks appears to be celebrating multiple generations of Gundam fans through new projects tied to beloved titles across the franchise.
Although information is still limited, anticipation is already building around what this new Gundam Wing visual project could become. Whether it is a new animation, commemorative feature, or something entirely unexpected, one thing is certain: Gundam Wing continues to stand as one of the most beloved and influential entries in Gundam history.
More information is expected to be revealed at a later date.
