Well there we go, now we have a Zaku II Revive that's a lot simpler in surface detail than The Origin version but doesn't seem to be skimping in articulation in the least bit. Good, good ;)
ReplyDeleteSurface details were never a problem with origin zaku, it's strange proportions (especially in the leg area) are. It's great that they adressed proportions, but it looks just too bland. It doesnt even have thrusters on the legs, dammit.
DeleteOh no, I never meant to imply the surface detail was a bad thing. Just knew there'd be folks that prefer their Zakus a lil simpler :P
DeleteIt's about time we got a Revive Zaku 2 cos that old HGUC kit is kinda bad.
ReplyDeletethis zaku's movements are sorcery
ReplyDeleteNice. I love the Origin Zakus, but there's something to be said for simplicity. Bring on the variants!
ReplyDeleteFinally a vintage-inspired Zaku which doesn't look like a dumb!
ReplyDeleteBut why HG and not HGUC? What happend?
ReplyDeleteIt's like the HG RX-78-2 Gundam [BEYOND GLOBAL] which this new Zaku release compliments, I think. There was also the High Grade Ver.G30th line which consisted of a completely different RX-78-2 Gundam from both the original HGUC and the later Revive for the 35th which ran only with "HG", and even the Gundam G40 itself is only labelled HG!
DeleteI wouldn't worry too hard about it not being labelled as HGUC.
HGUC or not, it's HG after all.
DeleteThanks god the back pack has been improved compared to the old HGUC horrible one!
ReplyDeleteYes! I've always loved the look of the non-origin HG Zaku II. Im only worried about the soft skirts and their ability to be painted
ReplyDeleteLooks like the soft skirt is just optional.
DeleteI am going to just stick with the ORIGIN....
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteZaku 2 Chars Origin seems just way better.
ReplyDeleteIndeed

DeleteThose flexible skirts look like bad news for anybody who wants to do repaints...
ReplyDeleteCurious to see if we get a release of the G40-design Char's Zaku as well.
Looks nice! A little more detail would be nice, though. Some notches and indented circles here or there or something.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never liked the detail vomit on the Origin version, myself.
I do hope that Bandai will make Revives of HGUC GM, Gelgoog, and Zeong. Even a Guntank Revive would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteThose square holed hands look pretty bad without it holding anything. Hope it comes with more sets of hands as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Zaku fanatic and I'm a little disappointed. It looks too simple, even kind of chibi-styled. I don't think this is a good complement to the RX-78-2 Beyond Global, which has beautiful proportion and detail. I'm very happy with my Origin and MG 2.0 Zakus.
ReplyDeleteI like both the origin and revive version. The details and the colour on the origin zaku II are much more modern but I guess the revive version is more simple and accurate to the first Char Zaku II. I'd like to get the revive version just because it goes well with my revive HG RX-78-2 Gundam :)
