Bandai Spirits has started the Glory of Losers Operation Meteor series kit variants with the amazing release of the Shenlong Gundam with its Liaoya Unit! This kit shares the same molds with the regular released Shenlong Gundam, packed with newly molded parts for its big sword unit "Liaoya" - along with the alternate shield connector molding for the unit.
The Liaoya is an additional weapon for the Shenlong Gundam. It was featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam Endless Waltz "Glory of the Losers" Manga. It is large sword that is connected to the Shenlong Shield through a cable, which allows it to be retrieved when thrown.
The kit will also include a newly printed water slide decal for detailing.

ReplyDeleteThat's a cool sword!
ReplyDeleteGreat, more P-Bandai Gundam Wing. Thanks Bandai. Since I already have ever normal release version of MG Gundam Wing ver EW, I would have preferred add-on packs for this.
ReplyDeleteOh we might get final battle Epyon then. Weird they did Shenlong's equipment first, while it is the most simple, I think Deathscythe's would sell far more.
ReplyDeleteWell crap, that is pretty awesome. Not enough for the P-Bandai premium though.
ReplyDeleteHahaha ...
ReplyDeleteI guess those who already have the MG Shenlong EW are probably salty at this... They could have just release the sword as a separate PB like they did for many others...
ReplyDeleteWith this release, I wish they will care enough to release deathscythe rousette or samdrock armadillo as well, even though it will be another P-bandai but hey at least those two are more worth the looks
ReplyDeleteJust going by price: I doubt this has the pearl coating the recent P-Bandai MG Wing Zero had when it came with the Drei Zwerg. If it does have some other changes to it, I may bite, but buying the same kit with only a different accessory is too hard a pill to swallow.
ReplyDeleteSo now they are going to do P-Bandai versions of the Glory of Losers add on weapon versions?
ReplyDeleteLooks like it.
DeleteTallgeese Flugel or even just the additional halberd + tempest heat lance is already good.
I'd be down for a Flugel as an MG or RG, and Mercurius and Vayeate double pack seems reasonably evil for P-Bandai to try.
DeleteThe grunts need some model love though. Virgo, Aries, and Taurus, at minimum, need some decent kits
Oh neat, now I won't have to hunt for the chinese knockoff that made this 4-5 years ago
ReplyDeleteI love the MG Wing kits, but this will be a hard pass for me.
ReplyDeleteWhy they don't release mobile suit builders parts in 1/100 like they do for 1/144 is beyond me. Hell, I'd be fine if the addon parts were moulded in grey plastic and had to be painted.
I am not paying P-Bandai price for a kit that has an extra accessory.
The short answer is that this is easier from production standpoint. It's a standalone product that the can produced to meet pre-order numbers. Separated and you run into problems of, "Well, how many new Shenlong's do we make?" Because there's a lead time with getting them onto retail shelves, there's a lot more uncertainty involved with the decision. Overproduce, and the price tanks. Under-produce and you don't move as many expansion units.
ReplyDeleteThere's also an issue of price points. Because Bandai have to sink a lot of money into the production of new molds, the price point on the expansion set is likely to be a lot higher than what a lot of consumers expect. By bundling in old plastic with molds that have already paid for themselves, it gives more room to absorb that higher price.
So yeah, there's what's ideal for a consumer, and what's practical for business and sometimes that don't align as well as you may hope.
What is the different between this P-Bandai release and standard MG Endless Waltz? Only the weapon? Or the kit itself have a modification also?
ReplyDeleteYou can buy the $10 resin kit instead of wasting your money on this kit.
ReplyDeleteBoy, do I remembered the TT Hongli Shenlong review by Prime92
ReplyDeleteWelp, HWS add on for the NU gundam Ver. Ka, assault buster add on for the V2 Ver. Ka, I can still go on. But well, the thing is, it's a shitty marketing strategy by Bandai to gain more profits.
ReplyDeletei want to know where the HG is...they've already got pretooled molds from the Jiyan Altron or whatever...wouldnt be hard at all....nah..instead we get Heavyarms..Meh
