MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam - Release Info, Box art and Official Images

Bandai Spirits announces the release of a new Strike Freedom Gundam which will be joining the Master Grade Extreme GunPla series! The kit is featured with high quality representation of metallic parts that makes the whole build look real and sharp.

UPDATE: JANUARY 18TH, 2023 - BANDAI SPIRITS announces that the kit will be available at the Gundam Base Online shop via Premium Bandai for limited time.

Bandai Spirits have envisioned their goal for this kit to have the highest metal expression in the history of GunPla. It features extreme metallic combination in which inner framing is composed with multiple layers of gold plated parts. Each section are also divided into multiple layered parts just like what they've done to the Perfect Grade Unleashed RX-78-2 Gundam.

The Strike Freedom has also been redesigned for this specific project. Experience the whole new GunPla on November 19th, 2022 for 15,400 Yen (10% tax included).

  1. Mamma mia. Just saw the video preview and I'm almost tempted to say that Bandai actually did Phase-Shift armor. Absolutely [BLEEP] incredible. But I'm gonna need gloves to build this thing.

  2. Mamma mia. I just saw the video trailer for this and I'm almost tempted to say Bandai just made Phase-shift real. [BLEEPING] incredible. But I'm gonna need gloves for sure.

  3. So is it the same kit as before but with more shiny parts or a totally new kit?

    1. Nahh it's a different kit compare to the previous MG kit. Personally I'll stick with the old one which I already have one over a decade coz the newer one is no doubt it will cost an arm and leg or a kidney.

    2. I might need to get this then. I don't have any Seed or Seed Destiny MGs so this will be the first.

  6. For extreme, it isnt that new level of "extreme" like Unicorn did. It just has more metallic coated plastic. But I love the design and metal etching stickers. So I might have one.

    1. Well I would imagine that the Extreme aspect of the MGEX line will be different for each MS, as seems to the case so far. For Unicorn it was the LEDs and Psychoframe, "Extreme Luminous System", and for the Strike Freedom it's the "Extreme Metallic Combination." While this all but guarantees a hefty amount of time between the release of each MGEX for ample model development and production, it also guarantees no two MGEXs will be quite alike, which I find quite interesting. It makes me quite excited for what MSes they'll do next with MGEX, you never know what the Extreme Point for each of them will be

So of course the Unicorn and the Strike Freedom wouldn't quite have the same level of Extreme as each other, it wouldn't make any sense for them to. It's not fair to compare them to each other, even if they're born of the same sub-line of Master Grade.

  8. Would be an excellent birthday gift for myself. I'm really digging the Metal Build aesthetic and have waited so long for a proper Gunpla kit in the style.

  9. Suggestiomns on where to rpeorder in europe ?

  10. It looks very "PG Unleashed", but in MG scale. I love it! Will definitely be picking one up. Would asking for an Infinite Justice as well be too much?

  11. That price is crazy. It's 3x the MSRP of the MG Strike Freedom. Seems like a lot of people are giving that princely sum a free pass because it's still less than the MGEX Unicorn, which was even more absurd. Goofy colored inner frame molding does not justify this price. It wouldn't be justified even at TWICE the price. A waterslide sheet and a few undergated orange frame parts do not a premium product make.

    1. As far as I know, there will only be 2 electroplated colours, with the rest being injection molded. Either way, most of this will be covered by the armor, so it seems a waste to spend so much and have most of it out of sight.

    2. This is a PG unleashed, only at a slightly smaller scale. The price is justified.

  12. Where to order in USA? And how come stores in USA asked for much higher price like $179.99? Isn't the price ¥14,000 (tax included) in Bandai's official video?!

  13. Saw it in person a few weeks ago at NYCC - it really looked wonderful. They had one model with all the armor on and one with just the gold layers. Looked fantastic. I pre-ordered mine earlier this year from USA Gundam Store - it was $179.99. They're still accepting pre-orders.
