Okuyama has been teasing us with this project since Gundam 40th anniversary presentation earlier this year.
This time, they presented Okuyama's RX-78-2 Gundam in HG 1/144 Gunpla form showing some unique and never-before-seen design of the Gundam unit.
Honestly, not a fan of this design. It just looks ... weird. Anyway, let's see soon.
ReplyDeleteit looks so cool.
ReplyDeleteIs this supposed to be for the movie or is it like if gundam was a kamen rider. Either way it looks like it will have good articulation
ReplyDeleteSpecial modern design kit for the 40th anniversary
Deletenot digging it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a G-Self converted into an RX-78.
ReplyDeletethat chest has such an early gunpla aesthetic, so rounded
ReplyDeleteThese appear to be sloppy resin prototypes, so maybe it'll look better when the inconsistencies are cleaned up. That said, the only part of it that i can say looks like an improvement to the revive would be the ankle and forearm design. Everything else just seems off.
ReplyDeleteJust the ankle and forearm? Dude that waist, and legs are significantly better compared to the revive. Same goes for the entire torso as well, and the feet though not obvious in the pics splits into 3 parts like a mg.
DeleteButt ugly. Looks totally like Reconguista designs.
ReplyDeleteDude, every design is unique.
DeleteDisappointed. I was seriously hyped for the PG 2.0, but eh. Seems I'll just go with the planned PG Zeta.
ReplyDeleteI actually dig it. Definitely want one of these!
ReplyDeleteFun fact: Ken Okuyama was formerly a designer for Pininfarina, and he designed automobiles for Ferrari like the Enzo and the P4/5.
ReplyDeleteThough his aesthetics for Ferraris don't seem to have carried over to this particular Gundam. Still, the articulation for this thing seems insane, especially that kneeling pose that most gunpla have difficulty with.
Judging from its looks, this looks like Ippei Gyubou's design.
ReplyDeleteNot really. Already mentioned above that this is a design by industrial engineer Ken Okuyama, who's designed a lot of real world vehicles including Ferraris and the modern Shinkansens.
DeleteNah, Ippei's signature is the high heel feet.
DeleteBruh u cant be serious, it literally says it's designed by Ken Okuyama.
DeleteUm you're kinda way off, in fact it's designed by a guy who makes ferraris lol
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the red mohawk but other than that I think it's kind of nice as a modern re-imagining.
ReplyDeletewell.........a different take.......en....
ReplyDeletegoodluck
It can kneel almost entirely naturally I'M SOLD
ReplyDeleteGlorious!
ReplyDeleteShould've been in Casval Red color...... 'cuz y'know.... It was made by Ferrari's designer.
ReplyDeleteDefine "never-before-seen".
