Live-Action Gundam Film Set Leaks Hint at Universal Century Timeline

The live-action Gundam film is finally rolling cameras in Queensland, Australia, and newly leaked set photos are already getting fans talking. Images shared online through Reddit appear to show clear references to the Earth Federation Forces, leading many fans to believe the movie could take inspiration from the Universal Century timeline.

One of the leaked images features a large banner displaying an Earth Federation-style insignia inside a building set. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Netflix or Legendary regarding the exact timeline, the logo strongly resembles the familiar Earth Federation emblem seen throughout Universal Century Gundam series.

Another set of photos shows military armored vehicles being transported around the filming location with “EFF” and “Earth Federation Forces” markings painted on the side. The vehicles themselves appear to be modified MRAP-style armored trucks, likely based on real-world tactical transport vehicles customized for the production. From the shape, armor plating, and wheel layout, they resemble heavily modified Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles or Cougar-style MRAP platforms commonly used in military productions.

Fans were also quick to point out that the use of “Earth Federation Forces” immediately brings Universal Century to mind, especially with the franchise’s iconic conflict between the Federation and the space colonies. Some fans have even begun speculating that the film could take place before Operation British and the devastating colony drop on Australia.

Netflix officially confirmed earlier this year that the live-action Gundam movie had entered production in Queensland, Australia, with filming reportedly taking place across the Gold Coast and other locations. The film stars Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo and is directed by Jim Mickle.

Right now, nothing has been officially announced regarding which Gundam universe the film belongs to, but these early set leaks are definitely giving off strong One Year War vibes.
