During its panel at Anime NYC on Saturday, Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that they are, for the first time, co-producing the new Gundam trademark, Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom, with the French virtual reality (VR) production company Atlas V, a company which has created many immersive experiences such as Gloomy Eyes and BATTLESCAR: Punk Was Invented By Girls, to create a feature-length VR anime.
The project has been dubbed an "immersive adventure", distributed by Astrea, and scheduled to be released on Meta's VR headset, Meta Quest.
Atlas V's Pierre Zandrowicz and Bandai Namco Filmworks' Ken Iyadomi announced the project and released a brief teaser video revealing the new project's logo. More details will be announced on a later date.
The new trademark was registered earlier this year, along with Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, which was announced that it would use Unreal Engine 5 to animate its six 30-minute episode OVA.
