As After War Gundam X celebrates its 30th anniversary, fans can't help but wonder if it's finally time for the series to receive the same kind of celebration that other Gundam titles have enjoyed. While Bandai Namco Filmworks has yet to announce a major anime project for Gundam X, recent anniversaries across the franchise have only fueled the conversation.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a brand new animation project, a dedicated GunPla lineup, and a new manga. Mobile Fighter G Gundam also received special anniversary treatment with a new novel, Metal Build releases, and fresh GunPla kits.

To Gundam X's credit, the anniversary hasn't gone completely unnoticed. Bandai Spirits recently announced the HGAW Gundam Virsago and HGAW Gundam Ashtaron for October and November releases, marking the return of two fan favorite mobile suits to the GunPla lineup. It's a welcome step for collectors, but many fans feel the anniversary deserves something even bigger.

After all, Gundam X has built a loyal following over the last three decades thanks to its post-apocalyptic setting, memorable cast, and standout mobile suits like the Gundam X, Gundam Double X, Gundam Leopard, Gundam Airmaster, Gundam Virsago, and Gundam Ashtaron.

An anniversary project doesn't have to be a full television series. A short animated special, OVA, commemorative film, or even a high quality promotional animation would be enough to celebrate the series and introduce it to a new generation of fans. Combined with the returning GunPla lineup, it would make Gundam X's 30th anniversary feel like the milestone many fans have been hoping for.

With Wing and G Gundam receiving major anniversary support, it's easy to see why fans are asking the same question: Does Gundam X deserve its own anime project for its 30th anniversary?
