Char Aznable's Sunglasses Are Up for Pre-Order, and the Red Comet Would Approve

If you've ever watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam and thought, "Those sunglasses look way cooler than they should," Bandai has good news.

Premium Bandai has opened pre-orders for two versions of Char Aznable's Sunglasses, faithfully recreating the iconic pair worn by the Red Comet in episode 12 of the classic 0079 anime. Scheduled for release in January 2027, the replicas are packed with details fans will appreciate, right down to Char's personal emblem on the temple tips and his name printed along the sides. Each pair also comes with a maroon glasses case and matching cleaning cloth.

Collectors looking for something extra can also pick up the Gihren Zabi Print Ver., which features a special printed lens inspired by one of the series' memorable moments.

Bandai didn't stop there. The company also created a Char Aznable Glasses Stand based on episode 12, giving fans a fitting place to display the sunglasses when they're not busy pretending to be three times cooler than everyone else. Just keep in mind that the stand may not fit every style of eyewear.

The lineup includes the standard Char Aznable Sunglasses for 15,400 yen, the Gihren Zabi Print Ver. for 16,500 yen, and the Char Aznable Glasses Stand for 3,300 yen.

Let's be honest. Most of us probably aren't about to pilot a red mobile suit, but slipping on Char's signature shades is a lot easier... and a whole lot cheaper.
