A brand new Gundam action game has officially entered orbit.
Bandai Namco revealed “GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT” during Summer Game Fest 2026, giving fans their first look at a completely new Gundam universe packed with photorealistic visuals, high-speed combat, and massive cinematic battles. The game is scheduled for release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
The newly released trailer throws players straight into chaotic large-scale battles as the mysterious Gundam Helix tears through savage enemies with a gigantic sword. Fast movement, aggressive close-range combat, and flashy high-mobility action immediately gave the game a different flavor compared to previous Gundam titles.
Players take control of “Rex,” pilot of the Gundam Helix, alongside his Haro partner “Vee.” Together, they face an unknown threat that could change humanity’s future forever. The trailer also introduced “Sofia,” a mysterious heroine whose role in the story remains unclear.
What immediately stood out to fans was the game’s cinematic scale. Explosions light up deep space battlefields while mobile suits dash across environments with incredible speed. The photorealistic art style also gives Rogue Orbit a much heavier sci-fi atmosphere compared to recent Gundam games.
The developers also confirmed that Gundam Rogue Orbit will be powered by Unreal Engine, helping bring its photorealistic environments and explosive large-scale battles to life. From the lighting to the fast-moving combat sequences, the game already looks far more cinematic than many previous Gundam titles.
At first glance, some longtime fans may even feel that Rogue Orbit does not immediately look like a traditional Gundam game. The darker atmosphere, grounded visuals, and aggressive action style give it a very different tone compared to past entries. Still, many fans are already praising Bandai Namco for stepping outside its comfort zone and trying something completely new for the franchise.

Alongside the announcement, Bandai Namco also launched the game’s official website and official X account, signaling that the project is only beginning its rollout toward 2027.
After years of fans asking for a fresh Gundam action experience built specifically for current-generation hardware, GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT may finally be the one that delivers it.
