More Gundam SEED Freedom Characters Revealed in Second Teaser

New Characters Include: Agnes Giebenrath, Toyah Masima, Alexei Konoe, and Albert Heinlein

Gundam's official YouTube channel has released the second trailer of the upcoming Gundam SEED Freedom film, which is slated to hit theaters on January 26, 2024 in Japan. The latest teaser previews more characters that will be appearing in the film.

To celebrate the upcoming release of the movie, the production team has revealed the cast of the latest title.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed director Mitsuo Fukuda is also directing the upcoming film. He also co-wrote the script along with his late wife Chiaki Morosawa and Liu Goto (Gundam SEED manga).

Hisashi Hirai (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Seed Destiny) is leading the character designs in the film.



The film will also feature mechanical designs of Kunio Okawara, along with Kimitoshi Yamane Junichi Akutsu, Kazutaka Miyatake, Shiba Zen, Takuya Io, Manabu Shintani, and Hiroyuki Taiga.

This film is part of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Project initiative, first announced in 2021 to celebrate the title's 20th anniversary. The goal of the project is to expand the potential of the SEED/Destiny titles by expanding their story, which also led to the development of the new game Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and the side story manga Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Eclipse.

Bandai Namco is also commemorating the franchise's success by releasing new GunPla models related to the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed/Destiny titles, including the release of the MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam and the MGSD Freedom Gundam.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed first aired in Japan in 2002 and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny followed in 2004. Like most Gundam titles, it was expanded with several side stories including Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer, a three-episode ONA directed by Susumu Nishizawa and written by Shigeru Morita, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray, a manga by Tomohiro Chiba published in 2002 with illustrations by Koichi Tokita.
