In an amazing development for fans of the legendary "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, the highly awaited reissue of the METAL STRUCTURE Kaishouki v Gundam will be released on January 26th. Priced at 110,000 yen (tax included), this marvel of mecha modeling marks the zenith of Gundam collectors.
While not exactly to scale, the figure's size and dimensions are extremely similar to 1/60 scale.
This edition of v Gundam, part of the revised completed product model series "METAL STRUCTURE Kaitai Shoki," stands out for its attention to detail and realism. The series is well-known for its approach of "disassembling" fictional mecha into its basic parts and treating them as if they were actual machines. This ν Gundam model, standing at around 370mm, illustrates this point of view.
The model, made up of around 2,000 components, has an unmatched feeling of realism. Its composite materials, as well as the precise coloring and markings on the body, recall the texture of a genuine machine. The ν Gundam not only looks authentic, but also feels lifelike.
This concept provides an interactive experience rather than just a static display. Each armor part has deployment gimmicks that enable a phased opening and closing motion, adding to the mechanical authenticity. The light-emitting gimmicks built in both the main body and the pedestal add to the classic Gundam's mechanical and massive sense.
The Metal Structure RX-93 v Gundam, rapidly captivated the hearts of collectors and enthusiasts alike when it was first introduced in December 2019 for 102,300 yen. Its reissue has been highly anticipated since then.
Pre-orders for this anticipated reissue began on September 4th, 2023. The model's multiple piece components demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a beautiful finish. The sharpness of the exterior layer is achieved by using ABS plastic, but the interior structure is made up of die-cast metal and etching pieces. This combination enables a thorough presentation, particularly in the "open-hatch" mode, highlighting the complexities of its design.
Tamashii Webshop has also revealed the fin funnel set during its first reveal in 2019, a key component of the v Gundam's weaponry, will be offered individually as a unique item on their own Premium Bandai webstore - no reissue date has been announced just yet. The model includes several attachments, including a Beam Rifle, Shield, Newtype Hyper Bazooka, two sizes of Beam Sabers with effects, a base set, light unit set, catwalk set, maintenance figure set, and an Amuro Ray figure set. It requires four AAA batteries for the base and three LR41 "test batteries" for the body.
