For these LEDs I didn't use an actual base for the lights to set up a mini stage for my GunPla because I don't have any platform with me. Anyway, I used this LED on my Mega Size 1/48 Gundam RX-78-2's eyes. It worked perfectly and fitted in the head without any problems at all. 

The diameter of each LED is about 5mm so it is perfect for big GunPlas and other models that you have.

I enjoyed installing the LEDs in the Gundam's head and I didn't have any problems installing it. every pieces of the set has no problems at all. the LEDs are bright enough to reflect to the clear yellow piece on Gundam's Eyes.

I did hide all the wiring inside the Gundam's backpack just to clean up the messy wires around it.

This is not an intentional project, I just used these LEDs to show that it is working perfectly and can be used in many ways that you want.

These LEDs are originally designed for the platform shown below...

but you can always use some alternatives that you may want to use, just remember that your imagination is the only limitation on everything you do.

moving on! The wires are easy to cut yet durable, I didn't have any issues installing them on LEDs through the switch.
