With After War Gundam X reaching its 30th anniversary in 2026, an MGSD Gundam X, Gundam X Divider, or Gundam Double X would be an ideal way to honor the milestone. Each mobile suit brings distinctive elements to the MGSD format, and it would be exciting to see how their signature features are realized in this highly detailed chibi-scale series.

The MGSD lineup already features MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW, and MGSD Wing Gundam Zero TV seems like a strong candidate to follow. Pairing it with an After War Gundam X anniversary kit would deliver a striking double release for the Alternate Universe spotlight.

As of this article’s posting, the MGSD Gundam Aerial is set for release on August 23rd. The MGSD series continues to be one of the most anticipated GunPla lines, especially in this milestone year marking the 45th anniversary of GunPla itself.

First broadcast in 1996, After War Gundam X marked the seventh animated entry in the Gundam franchise, stepping away from the Universal Century to introduce a brand-new setting—the After War timeline. Spanning 39 episodes, the series told a post-apocalyptic story set 15 years after the devastating 7th Space War, where most of Earth was left in ruins. Amid this fragile peace, mobile suits from the war became tools for both survival and conflict.

The narrative followed the Freeden, a ship led by Jamil Neate, whose crew sought to protect Newtypes from being manipulated. As they navigated the wastelands, a rebuilt world order emerged, threatening to reignite war between the New United Nations Earth and the Space Revolutionary Army. With political tensions rising and old grudges resurfacing, the Freeden crew faced powerful foes determined to repeat history’s mistakes.
