HG 1/144 Red Gundam (GQ)
Release Date: May 2025
Price: 2,750 Yen

Bandai Spirits has officially revealed the upcoming release of the HG 1/144 Red Gundam, scheduled to hit shelves in May 2025. This highly anticipated model kit features the mysterious mobile suit that first debuted in the new anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.

The Red Gundam made its unexpected return in U.C. 0085, sparking speculation that it could be the legendary RX-78-02 Gundam, originally developed by the Earth Federation during the One Year War. During its final testing phase, the mobile suit was seized by Zeon forces and underwent significant modifications. It was repainted in red for the exclusive use of Char Aznable, the infamous Red Comet.

Key upgrades included the Alpha-type psycommu system and Bits, advanced wireless weapons linked to psycommu technology, offering unprecedented combat capabilities. Both Char and the Red Gundam mysteriously vanished during the Zeknova incident at the Second Battle of Solomon, an event that marked the closing days of the One Year War.

Years of later, the enigmatic mobile suit resurfaced at Side 6, now piloted by a young newcomer, Shuji Ito, reigniting intrigue around its origins and purpose.

Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches, and don’t miss the chance to add this standout mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX to your GunPla collection!

  1. If I buy this, I will paint the chin and center of the v fin dark red to fix the mistake of the whole head being the same color. It was a terrible choice by the designers not to keep the same color blocking as the original Gundam. Even the RX-78/C.A. Casval's Gundam has a red chin and v fin center.

  2. I love the Elmeth bits, wish there were six of them instead of just the two though! I'm excited about this new take on the UC timeline!

    1. It looks like there are enough hard points (shoulders, elbows, and legs) to put six on if you had that many.

    2. You think they will make stand alone packs of the bits or try to make you buy 3 red gundams to fill it out?

  3. I take back all the bad things I said about Blood Orphan mecha design!
