The Gundam Base Japan's official X account has revealed that the Premium Bandai limited MG 1/100 Riko's Zaku II will be available in The Gundam Base stores across Japan starting August 17th. While the Premium Bandai release is scheduled for shipping in December 2024, fans near the Gundam Base stores can get their hands on the kit earlier than anticipated!
This announcement celebrates the success of TV Tokyo's midnight drama, Mass Production Riko, now in its third season and currently airing in Japan.
Based on the MG 1/100 Zaku II Ver. 2.0, the color scheme of this model was designed and overseen by Yuki Yoda, who plays the lead character, Riko Komukai, in the said drama! In addition to the drama's title logo and the "Yajima Model Shop" logo, the kit includes a limited edition marking sticker featuring Yoda's original designs.
The packaging itself is a masterpiece, featuring a special collaboration design that incorporates key visuals from the series. This thoughtful design makes the model an excellent display piece, even before assembly, especially for fans of the series.
Season three, titled "Mass-Produced Riko - The Life Assembly Story of the Last Plastic Model Girl," returns us to the captivating world of Riko Komukai. Now 25, Riko is a Tokyo-based office worker who balances the responsibilities of being the middle child with a strong desire to uncover her family's origins. This season unfolds in the countryside, where Riko and her three sisters reunite at their family home for the first time in four years following the passing of their grandfather.
During these family gatherings, Riko discovers an unfinished plastic model left behind by her grandfather. Determined to complete it, she enlists the help of Yassan, a friend from her grandfather's cherished model shop. The process of assembling the model becomes a profound journey, allowing Riko to piece together not only the plastic parts but also the fragmented history and relationships of her family.
