The 124-minute film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" made a good commercial launch, earning 3.1 billion yen ($20.6 million USD) from 1.86 million ticket sales in just three weeks in Japan. This incredible box office performance catapulted the picture to the top of the Gundam franchise, surpassing the franchise's 1982 box office hit, Mobile Suit Gundam III Encounters in Space, which made 2.3 billion yen ($15.5 million USD). 

The film's premiere was a significant advance above its predecessors. For comparison, the opening weekend revenue of "SEED FREEDOM" was 416.4 percent higher than that of the previous "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway" published in 2021. In terms of ticket sales, it increased by 502.8 percent from "Hathaway's" first weekend performance.
