The Gundam Build Metaverse Reveals Its First Key Visual Poster and GunPla Lineup

The first key image of the upcoming Gundam Build Metaverse ONA series and its GunPla series was revealed at the 61st Shizuoka Hobby Show, held May 10-11 at Twin Messe Shizuoka for vendor private invitation access and for public access on May 13 and May 14 2023

As the name suggests, Gundam Build Metaverse, the latest in the Gundam Build series, is a worldview video work inspired by the Gundam Metaverse Project and features a dream contest that can only happen in the world of the Metaverse.

This new build series takes place in an online metaverse space where users interact and move with other users using custom avatars. The Metaverse also features GunPla battle areas where users can  engage with each other's custom GunPla.

The story revolves around a Hawaiian boy named Rio Hōjō who learned how to make GunPla from a local hobbyist named Seria Urutsuki. In the metaverse, a character named Mask teaches Lady Rio the art of GunPla combat and strives to become better every day.

Rio uses his Lah Gundam, a custom GunPla based on the Entry Grade RX-78-2 Gundam and themed around the "Spirit of Japan", with the name Lah being derived from the native Hawaiian word for "sun".

The Build Fighter Series 10th Anniversary celebrations will take fans back in memory lane with tons of new updates to the well-known custom GunPla from previous Build Fighter Series titles, as well as new title-specific entries!

The Gundam Build franchise began with the Gundam Build Fighters anime series on October 7, 2013. The anime is based on the Sunrise Gundam anime franchise, directed by Kenji Nagasaki and written by Yosuke Kuroda of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, with the by Kenichi Ohnuki designed characters and Suzuhito Yasuda.

Unlike the traditional Mobile Suit Gundam anime, the Gundam Build title focuses on custom GunPla models that move using sophisticated technology found in the anime. The series sometimes features GunPla models that have yet to be released, and occasionally receives an official announcement in the future.

    1. Haha, well, Hiroto doesn't exist in this universe, so this is basically a reply guy who decided Pluto is a planet and deserves a PLANETS System add-on for the Core Gundam.

    1. Well Bandai spent $130 million(roughly 15 billion yen) on it, so they want to get their money's worth before the whole thing crashes for good.

  3. The only good things I see here are that psyco gundam mk.II arm on that mobile armor silhouette (hoping for the HGUC psyco gundam mk.II release), and that red barbatos lupus. The rest is meh.

  5. The menacing face of the Lah Gundam from the first trailer got me hyped. Then I saw the actual kit. Disappointment. Then I read the article. Then I am okay. I shall wait for the actual anime and judge.
