Gundam is Going "Metaverse" With 130m Budget

The future is here, as Bandai Namco Holdings announces that they will be spending 15 billion yen ($130 million USD) to develop its own "metaverse" by using Mobile Suit Gundam franchise as its main project theme. Bandai Namco Entertainment (BNE) will be responsible in running the project. 

In a concept video, users are able to create their own avatar and interact with other people using the platform, also to enjoy numerous entertainment provided in the metaverse.


The project is planned to connect people around the world by providing a fully integrated and dedicated place to enjoy various entertainment provided by Bandai Namco, which includes; gaming, streaming, live chats, and even live concerts, and many more! They've also added that even going to a virtual arcade facilities and Gundam related shops that you can take home via delivery method, are planned to be in this project.

In an interview, Bandai Namco President Masaru Kawaguchi said that their vision is to provide a deeper connection to all Gundam fans by using the Gundam Metaverse. He also added that they are also planning to create other metaverses for its other running franchises while they progress with the new project.

  2. This is probably the only metaverse thing out there I'd invest myself into, but even then.... I'm sceptical, the whole metaverse bandwagon has been a mess, especially with the use of NFTs, so I'm looking forward to hearing more details, but I'm not keeping my hopes up

  5. They are holding a gunpla tournament this month were you scan in you kit so I'm hoping they are going down the gun route
