New Life Size Gundam will be Erected in 2022

In the spring of 2022, it was announced that a life sized Gundam Statue of RX-93ffν Gundam will be erected at the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport in Fukuoka, Japan!

This statue is a newly designed RX-93 nu Gundam from the 1988 Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack. The RX-93FF nu Gundam was inspired after the Real Grade design that also features a long range fin funnel installed on its backpack that is exclusive for the statue. The Amuro Ray symbol was also given a tri-color feel to commemorate Gundam designer Yoshiyuki Tomino, who's also supervising this particular project.

The project management also announced that the statue will be treated with mechanism gimmick and will be announced as the project continues.

In addition, Bandai Namco Amusement Co., Ltd. and Bandai Spirits Co., Ltd. announces the a new spot called "Gundam Park Fukuoka" will also be taking place parallel to the launching of the life size RX-93FF nu Gundam statue. This project aims to extend the experience of the world of Gundam to all fans and new audiences around the world.

More details will be added as the project reaches its completion in 2022.

    1. Right, because telling Bandai what to do on a community-run blog is totally gonna work.

  2. Too much Gundam gets old. Put a Zaku or Sazabi!

    1. Well, it's Gundam, so they have to use Gundam statue to promote the Gundam, and Zaku and Sazabi are neither Gundam.

    1. They very likely needed to use the giant funnel so that it can touch the ground and be securely anchored. Having any classic Nu Gundam-style funnels would be a huge engineering hassle due to the weight and asymmetry.

Although I think this all could be circumvented if they just chose a better mobile suit design for the job.
