Moving Gundam Project Reveals the Inner Framing!

The moving life-size Gundam project has revealed another progress which features its entire inner framing and its moving capabilities! Also, the Yokohama facility has teased the fans with more detailed in progress work of its body and head parts, which gives us more idea on how it is going to look like compare to the 2009 version of the RX-78-2 Gundam.

The engineering team and project producers have collaborated with this project to make the life-size Gundam move and walk in real life! The video also shows that the moving Gundam's body will be supported with a wall-like structure while it hovers to its walkway on the actual presentation. The project also aims to test the capacity of the life-size Gundam, and to improve its movement in following years to come. Also, by considering its weight by providing proper materials, they will be able to test the prototype's limit and put some effort to make it better as they progress with the project.

The Gundam's inner framing and outer armor looks has been redesigned to accommodate and present a modernized look of the RX-78-2 Gundam.

The final result of the Gundam Global Challenge project will be presented at the Gundam Factory Yokohama that is scheduled to open for one year from October 2020! Also, a pre-opening date will be held from July through August 2020.

Along with the special 1/1 scale walking Gundam presentation are some more Gundam related attractions and facilities within the area where people can buy merchandise, browse "in the making" museums, and more!

  1. The 2009 exterior is more anime accurate. This 2020 inner frame is totally not MG/PG accurate at all. Ha Ha Ha~~~~

    1. I mean, it's not like we're actually building the real thing! We're probably several generations away from that becoming reality...

    2. He was saying it as a joke. By your logic then the outside needs not to be remotely close to the RX-78-2 design because this 1:1 model is not the real thing.

    3. Tomino himself said to differ from the original design and make it more modern. Watch it in Gundam.Info's series of behind the scenes.

      Also Tomino-san likes it to be more Busty ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  2. So I guess it'll just be walking in place attached to a wall, and not actually moving around a bit?

  4. The 2020 version kinda looks like the Gundam Evolve Version of the RX-78-2 to me. Though that could just be my eyes playing tricks on me.

  5. When the real RX-78-2 Gundam is finally completed, I hope that it will include a cockpit for pilots to sit inside.

  6. Somehow, a war is gonna break out and the lead project manager's kid will end up in the cockpit and fight off the attackers.

  7. This is amazing! However, i have some complaints. We aren't even at war yet, they needed to make Bugus first.
