I don't think they ever made an SD Akatsuki. So this is definitely a new mold. Maybe we will get an SDCS Akatsuki? I also want an MG and RG version too. Didn't one of those bootleg companies make an MG Akatsuki already?
Dragon Momoko did release a pretty decent "MG" Akatsuki Gundam. There is the HG 1/100 Akatsuki, otherwise Bandai needs to release a proper MG and hopefully we will see a RG.
The effect parts-shield thing is actually pretty nifty for an SD gimmick
