The kit is being released as a set to commemorate the Syd Mead exhibition PROGRESSIONS TYO 2019 that will be held in Gundam Base Tokyo from April 27, 2019 to late May 2019. The event features the works of Syd Mead himself, showcasing his "futuristic" concept arts and works for the past years of his career.
Syd Mead is the man behind the design of the CONCEPT-X 6-1-2 Turn X, and draft of the SYSTEM ∀-99 ∀ Gundam [Turn A Gundam].
Each model will be molded in metallic gloss finish with "nano skin image" decals provided.
The kit will be sold at the Premium Bandai online webshop after the event on May 31, 2019 [details will be added once the pre-order opens]
In the anime, nanomachines like Turn A Gundam and Turn X has the Nanomachine Regeneration System installed in their system and the mobile suits are covered with thin later of "nano skin" on its armor that allows them to regenerate any damages. It is also said that the nano technology has the capability to regenerate its pilot over time.

ReplyDeleteThe Turn A has such a unique joint system for the legs and the Turn X it just a different build experience. I'm defo going to be grabbing this set.
Yup I need this. Been wanting these two kits, but they've been sold out everywhere. I like the metallic finish on them and the decals are cool too.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe they're metallic finishes. More like smokey clear or translucent plastics. The nano decals are cool though
