Can you believe it's already been 20 years?
2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E.73 STARGAZER. Released in 2006 as a three-episode ONA, the side story introduced fans to Sven Cal Bayang, Selene McGriff, and the Stargazer Gundam, while expanding the Cosmic Era during the events of Gundam SEED DESTINY.
Bandai also gave STARGAZER plenty of attention when it first aired. Fans were treated to an impressive lineup of HG kits that included Stargazer Gundam, Strike Noir Gundam, Verde Buster Gundam, Blu Duel Gundam, 105 Slaughter Dagger, GINN Insurgent Type, Kerberos BuCUE Hound, and the Civilian Astray DSSD Custom. Strike Noir Gundam even received a Master Grade release in 2007.
For an ONA, that was an incredible lineup.
Fast forward to 2026, and things have been surprisingly quiet. While the main Cosmic Era mobile suits have returned with updated HGCE kits and new engineering, the STARGAZER lineup has remained untouched. The original HG kits still hold up in many collections, but fans have been hoping to see Bandai breathe new life into the series.
An HGCE revival could be the perfect way to celebrate the anniversary. Imagine a newly engineered Stargazer Gundam with improved articulation, refined proportions, and the signature Voiture Lumière effect parts. Strike Noir Gundam would also be a strong candidate for an HGCE update, while Verde Buster and Blu Duel would make great additions to a refreshed lineup.
With Gundam SEED continuing to enjoy renewed popularity following Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, the timing feels better than ever for STARGAZER to return to store shelves.
As Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E.73 STARGAZER celebrates its 20th anniversary, here's hoping Bandai has not forgotten one of the Cosmic Era's most memorable side stories.
If Bandai announced an HGCE revival tomorrow, which STARGAZER mobile suit would you build first?
