Revisiting The 3-Meter Recycle Grade RX-78-2 Gundam Runner Statue

The Gundam Runner Statue

Ever thought of what to do with the runners when you finished building a kit? This might inspire you.

We've revisited one of the most famous GunPla runner RX-78-2 Gundam modeled by a modeler named, Hirotyun100The statue was made between 2009 and 2010 with a total of 250 man hours, 300 if you include the material testing and such.

You probably have seen this wonderful creation many times now, but, it's just we can't get enough of it and hoping that one day we create something similar!

The modeler used purely Bandai / GunPla plastic model sprues a.k.a. runners to build each parts of the RX-78-2 Gundam, and has used runners according to the colors of the mobile suit without using any paints at all - he even fixed it on its final shooting pose that was inspired from the last episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime. The proportions and shaping of the final statue model came from the 1/48 RX-78-2 Gundam mega size model.

The statue gained its popularity in Japan and all over the world after it was made. The statue even made appearances in multiple Bandai Hobby related events in Japan.

The reason why were bringing this back is because when we've revisited his blog, it seems like that the artist is working on another project which focuses on Char's Zaku II. We'll for sure find out more about this project soon.
