The EXCEED MODEL TRINITY RX-78-2 Gundam is set to receive its regular Gashapon release in Japan this September, following the earlier Gashapon Online exclusive version announced in August.
The regular version will begin releasing sequentially at Gashapon vending machines and other locations across Japan during the fourth week of September 2026, with each try priced at 1,500 yen, tax included.
The collection is divided into three types: Exterior, Internal Structure, and Core Fighter Cockpit. Collecting all three allows fans to assemble an RX-78-2 Gundam bust measuring approximately 20cm tall.
This release follows the EXCEED MODEL TRINITY RX-78-2 Gundam Cable + Light Unit Set, which was offered through Gashapon Online. The Gashapon Online version is priced at 1,850 yen per try and includes additional cable and lighting units for the three components.
The first Gashapon Online batch opened for reservations on August 31, 2026, with shipping scheduled for late October 2026. A second reservation round opened on September 7, with that batch scheduled to ship in late December 2026.
The regular 1,500-yen version does not include the additional cable and lighting units, giving collectors a simpler way to collect the three components through physical Gashapon locations.
The EXCEED MODEL TRINITY concept also continues the technology developed through the EXCEED MODEL series, which began with the EXCEED MODEL Zaku Head. The new RX-78-2 collection arrives ahead of the 10th anniversary of that series.
With the regular version arriving in physical Gashapon machines while the Gashapon Online edition is scheduled for later shipments, collectors now have two versions of the EXCEED MODEL TRINITY RX-78-2 Gundam to look out for.
