The road to the 50th anniversary of the Gundam franchise officially begins with the announcement of GUNDAM-Con 2027, revealed during the latest Gundam Conference 2026 presentation. Set to take place from January 9 to 11, 2027 at Makuhari Messe, the event is shaping up to be one of the biggest Gundam gatherings ever held.

Planned as a worldwide celebration for fans across Japan and beyond, GUNDAM-Con 2027 will serve as a major lead-up event to the franchise’s historic 50th anniversary milestone in 2029. The first-ever convention will occupy Halls 10 and 11 at Makuhari Messe and will feature large-scale exhibits, immersive experiences, creator collaborations, and competitive championship events all centered around the Gundam universe.

Bandai Namco is pushing the idea of “creating together with all our fans,” bringing in creators who have worked throughout Gundam’s long history to help shape the event experience. Fans can expect special showcases and interactive displays that dive deeper into the worlds, mobile suits, and stories that helped define the franchise for generations.

One of the biggest highlights announced so far is the unification of multiple Gundam world championships under one roof. Competitions involving Gunpla, trading card games, and video games that were previously held separately are planned to come together during the convention, making GUNDAM-Con 2027 feel like the ultimate gathering point for Gundam fans worldwide.

Admission is currently planned as a paid entry system through advance lottery drawing, with more details expected at a later date.

With Gundam entering one of its biggest eras in years through anniversaries, theatrical projects, games, collaborations, and new series announcements, GUNDAM-Con 2027 already feels like a historic event fans will not want to miss.
