As a Gundam fan, jumping into Battle Destiny Remastered felt like stepping into the cockpit for the first time - it's hard, but everything feels fine and operable. From the very first mission, it’s clear that it’s a full-on immersive mobile suit experience that respects the source material and delivers a thrilling third-person shooter with depth.
Game availability: Nintendo Switch / PC (Steam)
The gameplay is tight but responsive. This is a third-person shooting game that genuinely feels good in your hands (sometimes). The controls have just the right amount of weight and realism—each boost, slash, and beam shot lands with impact, especially when you know your weapon systems ready to fire. While movement may feel a bit heavy at first, that’s clearly part of the design. You’re meant to grow alongside your mobile suit. As you unlock stronger frames and upgrades, the handling becomes more fluid and responsive—just like a real pilot getting used to their machine.
Right out of the tutorial, you’re free to customize and enhance your suit, giving you a head start in exploring the game’s different modes.
- VS Missions
- Divided into three thrilling formats:
- Free Battle
- Fight for the best overall battle performance—rack up your number of enemy takedowns, maximize your score, and customize the rules and team combinations to your liking. It’s the perfect mode for quick fun or stress-testing your upgraded suits.
- Point Battle
- A high-stakes competition for points! Take down enemy suits and earn more depending on their strength. The bigger they are, the more they’re worth—so choose your targets wisely.
- Ace Battle
- Chaos reigns in this survival-style showdown. Compete to destroy the most mobile suits while keeping yourself alive. Your opponents gain points when you get shot down, so holding your ground becomes just as important as your offense.
The beauty of the mode system is how it’s balanced with the Story Mode. While Free Battle gives you space to experiment and relax from the story grind, it’s the Story Mode that unlocks new mobile suits and upgrades—making it easier and more fun to dominate Free Battles. I highly recommend diving into the story, not just for gameplay progression but to relive (or discover) the incredible Gundam SEED storyline. It’s a great way to refresh your memory or get hooked for the first time.
Menus and UI deserve praise too—every button click feels responsive and polished. It’s a small detail, but one that adds to the overall enjoyment. And the best part? The game supports English, Japanese, HK Chinese, and TW Chinese text options, all with original Japanese voice acting. The voice performances are excellent and bring every mission and scene to life.
Aiming is made easy thanks to an optional auto-lock feature, but the game still rewards manual skill and tactics. I love how ammo management forces you to think before you shoot—no mindless beam spamming here. You’ll need to time your shots and make them count.
While the game definitely shines brightest with a controller in hand, keyboard and mouse support is surprisingly solid. WASD movement and mouse aiming feel responsive and intuitive, so PC players won’t miss out on the action.
This is just the beginning of my Battle Destiny Remastered journey. I’ll be spending more time sharpening my skills and unlocking more suits—and I’ll be sharing my mid-game thoughts and some gameplay reels on social media soon to give you a deeper look at what makes this game such a blast.
For now, I’d give Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered a solid 7 out of 10. It’s a fun, polished ride with easy-to-pick-up controls and plenty of room to grow as you level up and unlock new suits. I’ll be posting more gameplay and impressions soon, so stay tuned as I dive deeper—and start showing off some real skills.
See you on the battlefield, pilot. This is only the beginning.
