JAL x Gundam “Fly to the Future Project” Takes Off!

JAL Gundam JET Debuts for the Osaka-Kansai World Expo, Featuring Exclusive Gunpla and More!

Gundam fans, get ready for another groundbreaking collaboration! Japan Airlines (JAL) and BANDAI NAMCO Holdings have launched the JAL x GUNDAM FLY TO THE FUTURE PROJECT, bringing the world of Gundam to the skies in celebration of the 2025 Japan International Expo (Osaka-Kansai World Expo).

As part of this exciting project, the specially designed JAL Gundam JET will take off on domestic routes starting March 3, 2025. Featuring a striking livery inspired by the RX-78F00/E Gundam (EX-001 Glass Feather Equipment) from the upcoming GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION at the Expo, this aircraft will turn heads both on the ground and in the air. The jet also incorporates the Osaka-Kansai World Expo™ official character, Myaku Myaku, into its unique design.

Beyond the aircraft itself, JAL and Gundam are offering a range of exclusive experiences, including limited-edition Gunpla, commemorative travel packages, in-flight merchandise, and a themed restaurant bus that will serve regional delicacies while touring scenic locations.

JAL Gundam JET

The Boeing 737-800 (JA342J), operating as the JAL Gundam JET, will feature: A full-body Gundam-themed exterior inspired by the RX-78F00/E Gundam. Custom headrest covers, designed differently for Class J and Economy Class seats. Special flights running until November 2025 (exact schedules to be announced on the JAL website).

By flying across Japan, the JAL Gundam JET embodies the Expo’s vision of connecting people worldwide and inspiring future generations.

Exclusive Gunpla and Commemorative Travel Packages

To make this event even more memorable, JAL will offer limited-edition Gunpla models as part of its special travel packages and in-flight sales.

JAL x Gundam Restaurant Bus – A Traveling Dining Experience

• In addition to air travel, JAL and Gundam are rolling out a unique dining experience with the JAL x Gundam Restaurant Bus.

• A two-story bus with an open ceiling, designed to match the JAL Gundam JET.
• Gourmet meals served from the onboard kitchen on the first floor, enjoyed in the restaurant-style seating on the second floor.
• The bus will travel across Japan, offering regional dishes paired with stunning landscapes.
