U.C. 0085 > Side 6, Izuma Colony
When an “Ordinary” High School Girl Encounters War
In U.C. 0085, five years after the end of the One Year War, Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living in the Izuma Colony on Side 6, leads a quiet and uneventful life. That changes when she meets a girl named Nyaan, who is engaged in a peculiar part-time job. As a "courier," Nyaan is transporting a device designed to enable mobile suit combat. Following her to deliver the device to its destination—a junk shop named Kaneban—Amate is startled to encounter a towering Zaku. Outside the shop, two more mobile suits suddenly appear.
The two suits—one a striking red Gundam and the other the GQuuuuuuX, a cutting-edge model developed by the Principality of Zeon—have arrived with clear intent. Zeon officer Challia Bull has sent the GQuuuuuuX to reclaim the red Gundam, a legendary machine that has been missing for years. However, the GQuuuuuuX’s pilot, Xavier, fails to activate the advanced Omega Psycommu system in time, causing the mission to unravel as local military police intervene.
As the chaos unfolds, Amate becomes enraged by the military police Zaku's reckless disregard for the refugee zone, which it damages without care. Driven by anger, she impulsively commandeers Kaneban’s Zaku and later discovers the GQuuuuuuX in an abandoned section of the colony's bulkhead mine. Though inexperienced, Amate powers up the GQuuuuuuX and takes on the military police Zaku in open space.
In the presence of the red Gundam and while experiencing a strange phenomenon she calls the "sparkle," Amate awakens to newfound abilities. With these, she triumphs over the military police Zaku, marking the beginning of her extraordinary journey.

I don't really get the hate on this new series. I am both fan of Gundam and EVA and the fusion just made it more interesting. Some people just don't know how to accept changes and quickly judge something they have not seen yet.
