Gundam Franchise Hits Record Sales of 145.7 Billion Yen in 2024, Sets New Forecast for 2025

The 45th anniversary of Gundam marks a significant milestone for the beloved franchise, celebrating over four decades of innovation, storytelling, and cultural influence. This year, Bandai Namco Holdings unveiled its 2024 fiscal year results, achieving a record-breaking 145.7 billion yen, or nearly 946 million USD at today's exchange rate.


GunPla, the iconic series of Gundam model kits that has been a source of revenue for Bandai for decades, has made a substantial contribution to its financial success. The newly released film, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, has also played an important part, earning an amazing 2.68 billion yen in just over two weeks after its Japanese premiere on January 26, 2024.

Bandai Namco's fiscal year report, which ended on March 31st, 2024, sets great expectations for the future. The company is also aiming to replicate this success, forecasting close to similar results for the fiscal year 2025.

As GunPla prepares to commemorate its own 45th anniversary next year, expectations are high. The future Gundam Next Future projects are expected to smash records, raising income and increasing the franchise's appeal both domestically and abroad.
