Tamashii Nations has announced the release of a special limited color edition METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex to commemorate the Robot Spirits 15th anniversary event that will be held at the Tamashii Nations Store Tokyo from September 16th to November 12th, 2023.

As the item's name suggests, the premium figure features a special color that also features a special "Metallic Pearl Gloss" coating, also provided with a luxurious touch on its special display base featuring a special metallic red stamping.

The special figure will be sold exclusively at the event for limited time for 17,600 Yen (taxes included).

The Gundam Barbatos Lupus was seriously injured after a battle with the Hashmal near Chryse, a city on Mars, and was sent to Saisei's MS workshop for a major upgrade. During the redesign, data sampling of Barbatos Lupus' combat with Hashmal was also carried out. The machine's response speed was pushed to the theoretical limit in order to match the fighting data of Mikazuki Augus, who was strengthening his compatibility with the mobile suit via the Alaya-Vijnana System. The frame's joints were also fine-tuned to reflect the pilot's actual sensations. Because of Mikazuki's worsening impairments, the suit's cockpit hatch was altered from its predecessors' top opening manner to a front opening type.

The arms of the suit have been extended and elongated like beasts to better reflect Mikazuki's combat style, and numerous weapons have been added to the body. The structural construction of the arms was also updated and reinforced. The tail components of the Hashmal were transplanted to the suit's back, and Mikazuki controls this tail blade as if it were a limb via the Alaya-Vijnana System. Overall, the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex is designed for close battle, with a more fearsome silhouette than its predecessors.The word 'Rex' means 'King' in Latin, which is significant because Mikazuki is following Orga Itsuka's ambition to become "King of Mars."
