A Real Life GunPla Battle Experience is Slowly Becoming a Reality

Announced to be launched at the Gundam Port Yokohama exhibition that's scheduled between March 6th to March 13th, 2022 is the very first large public presentation and experience of the Road to GunPla Battle project!

The project aims to make a Gundam model move by scanning it and battle with other GunPla in a virtual game area.

This test event will demonstrate the future of GunPla building and the possibility of GunPla battling just like what we see from Gundam Build Fighters anime titles.

What do you need to participate? Bring one of the compatible GunPla to the event and join the experience. Each participant will be going step by step process in producing the 3D version of their GunPla!

There will be about 10 to 15 minutes planned session for each participants which are divided to GunPla posing (2 minutes), GunPla scanning experience (2 to 3 minutes), 3D data creation (about 5 minutes), and 3D data operation check experience for about 2 minutes!

To avail the free of charge experience, you can bring the following compatible GunPla...
  • 1/144 RX-78F00 Gundam
  • HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam (no. 21)
  • HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam (no. 191)
  • HG 1/144 RX-78-02 Gundam (Gundam The Origin version)
  • HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam (Beyond Global)
  • Entry Grade 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam
  • HG 1/144 Gundam Helios
  • 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Assembly Experience Ver. (this is a Gundam Port Yokohama venue exclusive GunPla)
Otherwise, GunPla for rents are also available at the venue in case you didn't bring one!

The project was first tested privately at the Gundam Base Tokyo during the Gundam Build Divers launching event in 2018. The tech team are working really hard to perfect this project and the aim to make this to a more functional GunPla battle experience in the future!

Depending on the current situation, the event organizers has the say to change the event's rules and regulations without prior notice.

  1. I'm definitely curious to see how this plays out. In the meantime, I would totally be down for a Gundam version of toy-to-life games (AKA Skylanders/LEGO Dimensions/Disney Infinity/etc.).

  2. How insane is this? They come out with a series based on the premise of Gunpla Battle in 2013, that's almost a decade ago. 3 more series based on that premise follow it and now in 2022 we are ON THE ROAD to Gunpla Battle. They have gone public with the intent and effort to make this thing they invented 9 years ago a reality.

What a bunch of actual chads.

    1. Gunpla battle has been a concept since the 1980s, with the manga titled 'Plamo-Kyoshiro' (which is where the Red Warrior and Perfect Gundam originated from). And before Build Fighters (2013) there was Gunpla Builders Beginning G (2009).
