Funimation is now streaming the first 5 of the 13-episode TV series version of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
The TV series "Advent of the Red Comet" features a recompilation of the 6-episode OVA that started in 2015. NHK-General began airing the 13-episode TV version every Sunday from April 29, 2019 in Japan.
The anime adaptation is based on the manga written and illustrated by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko that was first serialized by Gundam ACE magazine from 2002. It is a retelling of the story based on the original Mobile Suit Gundam 1979 anime TV series that is compiled in 23-volume manga in Japanese and 12 in English.
