I knew it, why else would they release a HGAC Leo out of the blue if not to be used for some Build Divers custom as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, a lot of us were assuming we would get a HG Tallgeese Revive-ish release since the bodies are pretty similar (and canonically related in fluff).
DeleteThey may eventually, but with the RG Tallgeese coming out at about the same time I think it's safe to assume Bandai will wait awhile to let that stew. Build Fighters on the other hand has made a pattern of following up on out-of-the-blue, non-standard HG releases with a variant of their own(or vice-versa), and the HGAC Leo fits the criteria for that pattern, and well... here we have it!
DeleteLeo is way smaller MS than Tallgeese so it still doesn't make sense that they will make an HG Tallgeese Revive-ish out of it.
DeleteGundam Wiki lists it as a 1.4M difference in height (and the Tallgeese has the crest that adds part if not all of that height) - not too crazy to preclude a HGAC Tallgeese I think.

DeleteThough, I just hope there's going to be extra parts enough to make the standard Leo head in this kit, like with the Origin Zaku kits having spare parts meant for other variant kits. I love that this Leo design has a backpack in comparison to the HGAC vanilla Leo, so I was hoping to buy a second and use the new colors and call it a Riot-model Leo or something.
I'm just concerned about what a Maganac head option on this kit means for a potential future Maganac model. Does it mean that the actual Maganac HGAC model is on the horizon, or is this our stand-in for that and that's it?

Though I get where you're coming from. Build Fighters had 6 of 9 of its first kits as Gundams while Try had 5 of 9.
This is the lowest ration of gundams in the subgenre so far. Even GunplaBuilders had 4/6 releases being gundams, 6/8 if you count Beginnings D and J.
The other Build Fighter series were LOADED with Gundam designs. There's more to Gunpla than Gundams you know. I like that there's more variety here.

Not all mobile suits were gundam. Heck, it's probably a lot of mobile suits weren't a gundam (except maybe SEED and 00)

ReplyDeleteWell if that's the case, i would like to see this model kit in death army or maybe maganac color scheme.
You know what, with only recoloring this kit with two types of brown (light and dark, whatever shade it is) and maybe a bit of red and/or green for the eyes and some little details, this thing would look like both death army and maganac.
