The Gundam Official X (formerly twitter) account has officially announced that a brand new Gundam anime will be revealed later this month, with the first details set to debut during San Diego Comic-Con.
According to the official announcement, a special Gundam panel at San Diego Comic-Con will unveil new information about the upcoming anime. At the same time, fans around the world will be able to watch a special livestream on the official Gundam Channel via YouTube featuring the very same announcement.
The "Gundam Series New Anime Announcement Special Program" is scheduled to premiere on July 24 at 3:00 AM JST (listed in Japan as July 23 at 27:00), which is July 23 at 11:00 AM PDT in San Diego.
The timing overlaps with GUNDAM Showcase 2026: Unveil the Next Gundam at San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place on Thursday, July 23, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM PDT.
During the showcase, special guests from Japan will take the stage to reveal the new Gundam anime series and share what's next for the franchise. Since the announcement program begins at 11:00 AM PDT, it will premiere during the second half of the panel.
The reveal comes as Gundam's 50th anniversary celebration continues with new anime projects, GunPla releases, exhibitions, and special events. Adding a brand new anime announcement to the lineup is sure to make this anniversary year even more memorable for fans.
With less than three weeks to go, anticipation is already building. Will this be a completely new universe, another entry to Universal Century, a new Build series, or something no one saw coming? Fans won't have to wait much longer to find out.
What are you hoping this new Gundam anime will be?
