2024 is an amazing year for Gundam fans as it marks 45 years since the first broadcast of "Mobile Suit Gundam." It also coincides with the 55th anniversary of Monthly Hobby Japan's inaugural issue. To honor these dual milestones, the November 2024 issue of Hobby Japan will feature a special commemorative article dedicated to Gundam’s storied history and its intersection with the publication.
This special feature, titled "45 Year Trajectory of Gundam," will delve deep into Gundam's history from Hobby Japan’s unique viewpoint. It will explore key elements such as the "All Japan Ora-Zaku Championship," "Gundam Gaiden Series," and many more coverage relating to GunPla, bringing back nostalgic memories through articles that revisit the legacy of these iconic projects and their revival.
A highlight will be the RG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0, which first appeared in the October issue. This model will be showcased as a commemorative edition in line with the anniversary celebrations. Additionally, readers will be treated to an insightful conversation between Mr. Yasunaga, a major figure in Gunpla development at BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, and the editor-in-chief of Hobby Japan, as they reflect on Gundam's past and discuss future possibilities.
As a bonus, the issue will include a separate booklet titled "Hobby Japan Memorial 1980s," offering a nostalgic look back at one of the most influential decades in both Gundam and model-building history.
