Gundam THE ORIGIN Movie Edition to Premiere in Japan Starting September 13th

To mark the 45th anniversary of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" anime, a special re-edited version of all six episodes of the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN" has been created by Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. This "movie edition," divided into three chapters, will be shown in theaters across Japan starting on Friday, September 13th.

As part of the celebration, an A5-sized illustration sheets drawn by Director Yasuhiko will be given to visitors at the screenings. In addition, several special events are planned to coincide with the release. On Saturday, September 14th, a stage greeting featuring Director Yasuhiko and character designer Tsukasa Kotobuki will take place at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo.

The following weekend, on Sunday, September 22nd, a commemorative screening with a stage greeting by Director Yasuhiko and mechanical designer Yamane Kimitoshi will be held at Shimane Cinema ONOZAWA. This event is part of the "Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, the Artist" exhibition at the Shimane Prefectural Iwami Art Museum. At both venues, visitors will receive a gift signed by Director Yasuhiko.

"Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" covers the key events from Volumes 9-12 of the original manga, detailing the lead-up to the main storyline. This includes the shift from the Autonomous Republic of Munzo to the Principality of Zeon after Zeon Zum Deikun's death, the escape of Casval and Artesia Som Deikun from Side 3, the creation of the first mobile suits, the origins of the White Base crew, and the initial clashes of the One Year War.

The "Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN" movie edition is a re-edit of all six OVA episodes for theatrical screening.
