"Gundam X" is a 1996 anime series, officially known as "After War Gundam X." The series is set in an alternate timeline called the After War (AW) era, 15 years after a devastating war between the Earth and its space colonies. This war led to a catastrophic event known as the "7th Space War," where countless colonies were dropped onto Earth, causing massive destruction and loss of life.

The story follows Garrod Ran, a young scavenger who pilots the Gundam X, a powerful mobile suit equipped with a satellite cannon capable of immense destruction. Garrod meets Tiffa Adill, a mysterious girl with Newtype abilities, which allow her to communicate telepathically and sense the presence of mobile suits. Together, they join the crew of the Freeden, a ship led by Jamil Neate, a former Newtype pilot who fought in the 7th Space War.

As they journey across a war-torn Earth, they encounter various factions and individuals seeking to rebuild or dominate the world. Key themes in "Gundam X" include the consequences of war, the struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic setting, and the hope for a better future.

Despite its initial popularity, "Gundam X" was cut short from its intended 49 episodes to 39 due to lower-than-expected ratings. However, it has since gained a dedicated fanbase and is appreciated for its unique storyline and characters within the Gundam franchise.

  1. These kits were basically the equivalent of the early Wing kits. I believe they even used the same polycap hands for the 1/144 models.

    1. yes, also most of the 90s GunPla kits were sharing the same polycaps. The G Gundam hands were slightly rounded compared to the Gundam X and W series kits.

  2. Ahh, this takes me back. ❤️ This line was my introduction into the world of gunpla. First one I got was the Leopard Destroy (because GATLING CANNON lmao), then the Airmaster Burst and the Double X. Too bad I didn't complete the lineup as the local Toy Kingdom ran out of stock. I really, really wish Bandai would complete the whole HGAW line.
