Gundam: Silver Phantom VR Anime Drops New Trailer, Key Visual and Mobile Suits

During the Anime Expo 2024 (AX2024), Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed another exciting trailer for their upcoming META QUEST VR anime, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom. This VR film is a collaborative effort between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Atlas V, known for their innovative approaches in animation and virtual reality experiences.

The new trailer introduced a range of new characters and mobile suits in action, with a special focus on the film's main Gundam unit. This unit was prominently showcased, highlighting its distinctive capabilities and design. The film is set in the Universal Century year 0096, situating it within the established Gundam timeline. 

SYNOPSIS (some names may be adjusted upon confirmation)

In UC 0096, the unofficial mercenary organization Argent Keil, independent of both the Federation and Zeon, is tasked with assassinating Azami Megine, a high-ranking Federation official. The mission is commissioned by the Federation itself, as they cannot publicly acknowledge Azami's existence due to his collusion with Zeon. However, just as Argent Keil's fleet is about to depart, they are ambushed by the Federation's own Jegan unit. Amidst this chaos, Argent Keil's secret weapon, a silver mobile suit called Delta Zayin, is launched into space, setting the stage for an intense and unpredictable conflict.

As a META QUEST VR animation, Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom seeks to engage viewers in the Gundam universe like never before. The VR format allows fans to experience combat and storylines from a first-person perspective, which increases the emotional and visual impact of the story. The inclusion of new characters and mobile suits indicates a new storyline while remaining true to Gundam's basic themes of conflict, politics, and human perseverance.

MOBILE SUITS

Delta Zayin

The Delta Zayin is a modified Delta Plus provided to Argent Keil by Anaheim Electronics (AE). Due to a secret agreement, the exterior of the unit features non-standard parts. The head comes from a prototype of a different project, the armor design incorporates data from a phantom aircraft that was never fully developed, and the shield is a specially crafted new item. Painted in silver, the unit symbolizes Argent Keil.

Jagd Weise

Argent Keil obtained a Jagd Doga, originally meant for the Neo Zeon remnants as a spare part, and modified it into the JAGD WEISSE. All original psycommu equipment has been removed. Enhancements include stronger sensors and a redesigned shoulder shield that increases thrust capacity. The unit is equipped with a special beam shot launcher.

Re-GZ (Argent Keil spec)

After the Second Neo Zeon War, several Re-GZ units were produced for technical testing. Argent Keil acquired one and performed extensive modifications. This version is specifically adjusted for use in Mobile Suit (MS) form without the optional Back Weapon System (BWS). The backpack has also been reinforced to improve performance.
