Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom (2024)

The Force Impulse Gundam Spec II is an upgraded version of the Force Impulse Gundam, secretly modified by Erica Simmons at Cagalli Yula Athha's request. It features improved battery capacity and a slightly darker, desaturated color scheme due to voltage differences in the new battery affecting the Variable Phase Shift armor. Despite the visual changes, the Spec II retains all the original Impulse's capabilities. Unlike the original, which was launched in separate components from the Minerva and assembled in the field, the Spec II is launched fully assembled from the Millennium due to the lack of a dedicated launch facility.

Following the Eldore incident, the Impulse Gundam Spec II, secretly enhanced by Erica Simmons at an Orb Union base, became essential for Compass' forces. With the LHM-BB03S Millennium in need of new mobile suits to rescue Lacus Clyne from the Kingdom of Foundation's hidden stronghold in Artemis, Lunamaria Hawke piloted the Impulse Spec II. She defended the Millennium and, after losing her weapons in a clash with Agnes Giebenrath's GYAN Strom, switched to the Force Silhouette. Receiving an energy recharge from the Destiny Gundam Spec II, Lunamaria defeated Agnes and joined the assault on Requiem, using the METEOR Unit-08 from Dearka Elsman's Lightning Buster Gundam to disable the facility's Lightwave Barriers.

GunPla

The Force Impulse Gundam SPEC II made its GunPla debut with the release of a Real Grade (RG) kit in February 2024, coinciding with its appearance in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom film. 

Unlike in the film, neither the RG Force Impulse Gundam SPEC II nor the RG Force Impulse Gundam can dock properly with the separately sold HG 1/144 METEOR Unit due to the design of the Force Impulse's backpack. However, this issue can be resolved with a slight adjustment to the backpack.

Its variant, the Blast Impulse Gundam SPEC II, is scheduled for release in the Real Grade lineup through Premium Bandai in September 2024.
