Dune's Timothée Chalamet in Talks to Star as Lead Role.
In 2021, a concept art teasing the upcoming live-action Gundam film was revealed by Netflix during its "Netflix Festival 2021" video stream. The first art and only known key art for the project features a silhouette of what seems to be a heavily damaged mobile suit, or safe to say, a Gundam.
The live-action adaptation of the Mobile Suit Gundam title was first announced in 2018, and came to a sudden long pause after the official reveal.
All we know so far is that the screenplay is being penned by the American comic book and television writer, Brian K. Vaughan, the man behind Ex Machina, Runaways, Y: The Last Man and Pride of Baghdad. Featuring the MonsterVerse film, Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. It is a movie project planned under the production of Legendary Entertainment in collaboration with Sunrise.
According to a report by [GiantFreakinRobot], Dune star Timothée Chalamet is in talks to star as Kit, the lead role in the live-action Gundam film.
Additionally, What’s on Netflix reported that production of Gundam is scheduled to begin in June 2023, but seemed to be pushed back to January 2024. As long as the plans are in place, we should have more information about the anticipated film soon.
Here's a look back at the first trailer for Anime Expo 2018.
Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, and Sunrise (now known as Bandai Namco Filmworks). The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise will be celebrating its 45th anniversary in April 2024. Followed by GunPla's 45th anniversary in 2025.
nothing beats the old but gold G-Saviour xD.
ReplyDeleteSeriously tho, I am looking forward to this. Some huge names involved.
I just hope it's not a retelling of Amuro's story with different characters, but more of the MSV kind of side story.
ReplyDeleteIt's a Netflix adaptation, given what they've put out in the last couple of years, I am quite wary of what they are going to do with the source material...
DeleteIt won't be. If anything, they'll probably just put some homages from the UC timeline and other Gundam universes but not likely going to be exactly like a retelling, otherwise that would be a waste of years of efforts into hyping this title.
